TMAstrology TOD for Monday, December 28th (into Tues Dec 29th): According to Nikolai Grozni, author of _Turtle Feet: The Making and Unmaking of a Buddhist Monk_ debate contests between Tibetan monks are particularly er ... lively ... because it's the only form of aggression allowed these young, celibate groups of men. We won't have to be a debating Tibetan Buddhist monk to get into contentious debate today through tomorrow as the stars will inspire that all on their own. Wanna argue about the definition of emptiness anyone?

Equine Astrology TOD for Saturday, Dec 19: Don't be decorating any Aries-Sun horses for Christmas today, unless we can do it quick. Aries (horses, humans, dogs, houseplants even) are going to be particularly impatient. And we're all going to be a bit obsessive. You can see how this could end badly ...
Trish Marie Astrology TOD for Saturday, Dec 19: It's a somewhat obsessive-compulsive day today so if we enjoy that sort of thing, we'll be happy. If we don't enjoy it, then we can channel the energy into ferreting out secrets ... especially those that involve money or power. Arians will be particularly impatient, so don't take your Aries friends to see Star Wars because they'll be chewing on their coat (and maybe yours as well) out of frustration by the time you make it through the line.

TMAstrology for THURSDAY, Dec 10th: high risk of running smack into immovable objects today folks. High risk of running into immoveable people too. Drive with care and stay flexible, even though our inclination will be to dig our heels in over something or other. (I'm just going to stay home and write ... with a pen. Computers likely to be more inflexible tomorrow too).
Donald Trump. (-sigh). Sun in Gemini, Moon in Sagittarius ... Gemini's famous flaw is talking too much, Sadge is talking too bluntly ... and Trump has Leo Rising, so, (when expressed negatively) he's an attention whore. Plus, see Mars (circled in red at left) ... has just peeked above the horizon at time/place of Trump's birth ... this is the Ascendant. Everything we do, say, experience gets filtered through our ascendent and when Mars (the god of war) rises, life feels like a battle ... one we're happy to participate in. If we can't find a battle, we'll make one. Trump was born on an eclipse making commitment and separations a big deal in his life (just ask one of his ex-wives ... and, in his reality show he's famous for saying, "You're Fired!"), and the nodes of the Moon (those horseshoe shaped symbols) span the Gemini-Sagittarius axis. This means that he really should have gotten as much education as he could, and needs to work hard to understand people of different cultures and viewpoints than his.

Equine Astrology TOD for WED, Dec 2nd: The last quarter Moon triggers the ongoing Saturn-Neptune square, which represents the breaking of illusions. In honor of that, here's an article that may help some training myths (I never agreed with the whole "don't sooth" frightened animals thing ... or the don't pick up a crying baby. Natural instinct says to offer comfort, and I say, go for that ...).
TMAstrology for WED, Dec 2nd: Author Barb Ehrenreich writes that "Delusion is always a mistake." The truth of this will be made clear under Wed's last quarter Moon. This Moon triggers the ongoing Saturn-Neptune square, which represents reality intruding on fantasy. Yes this does mean we won't be able to avoid noticing the dust bunnies (and flat out dust) in that room we talked ourselves into believing we'd cleaned. (Except for the Virgos--the Virgos really did clean it. Twice.)
Monday, November 30, 2015
Equine Astrology TOD for Mon & Tues Nov 30-Dec 1st: Last week had us thinking that we and our horse were speaking different languages, Monday and Tuesday's aspects restore communication. Which is a good thing because we just know that salesclerk was going to give us really funny looks when we asked for Rosetta Stone's equine package.
Trish Marie Astrology for Monday and Tuesday, Nov 30-Dec 1st: We get a breather in some easy aspects, which will be a nice change of pace from last week's Saturn-Neptune "my sandcastle just washed into the sea," stress. Wednesday's last quarter Moon twangs that Saturn-Neptune again so take naps! As many as possible, between now and Wednesday. (Which will be, probably, none! ... on my end anyway ...-sigh-).

Goucho Marx famously said, "I wouldn't want to belong to a club that would have me as a member." Marx would like tomorrow's Full Moon, as the alignments encourage the dissolving of bonds, especially bonds that hold groups, associations, and even friendships together. Don't worry, this doesn't mean we're gonna lose all our friends! (Most of us have, like, thousands, in these weird FB days anyway ...). It does mean, if there's any group we wanna get out of ("tell me again why I joined that local freegan dumpster diving club?") here's our sign. This Moon's alignment can also trigger a bit of anxiety about our foundations or resources in general. Don't worry, Thanksgiving is the very next day and we can reassure ourselves we won't starve over third helpings of Tofurkey.

Equine Astrology Tip of the Day for FRIDAY, Nov 20: The things we admire may push our buttons today horse lovers, so stay away from beautiful Arabians and Thoroughbreds and go hang out with ugly horses instead. For those of us who believe there are no ugly horses, may I introduce the Appaloosa ... JUST KIDDING! ... really, there are no ugly horses. We might want to hang out with the dust balls under the bed instead, get those babies cleaned up. Make a productive use of a pushy day.
Tuesday, November 17, 2015
Equine Astrology TOD for Wed, Nov 18: Neptune, planet of compassion makes a station today and it's great to celebrate that with altruistic acts. Neppy stations in hard aspect to Saturn, planet of reality though so keep it real: Saint Francis may have been willing to give away his last cloak to a beggar and walk around naked, but you get arrested for that sort of thing nowadays.
Friday, November 13, 2015
Saturday, Nov 14 Equine Astrology TOD: There's a conflict between what we want to want and what we actually want today riders. Best stay in the barn and out of the shopping centers, that way we don't end up with any purchases that make us think, "What was I thinking?" And the pony gets exercised or the barn cleaned! (Or both if you're more ambitious than I am).
Thursday, November 12, 2015
TMAstrology for the New Moon in Scorpio (which was, yeah, I know, yesterday ... better late than ...): At this New Moon the Sun/Moon alignment occurs at 19 degrees Scorpio. This degree is known as the "Accursed degree of the accursed sign" (and if we know anyone born near Nov 10-11, we might be thinking, "hmmm, explains a lot" ...). (I jest). It's supposed to be a degree of tragedy though I haven't found that true (but then, there was the Great Lakes freighter the Edmund Fitzgerald which sank when Sun aligned with this degree) ... I have found that people born with Serpens prominent tend to be emotionally intense, creative, and money-motivated (i.e. not usually the starving artist types--they'll find a way to make it pay).
What's New Moon here mean? Now through the Full Moon we'll be more likely to make decisions based on emotion rather than rationality (yes, even the Virgos and Aquarians ... Aquarians make emotion based decisions most of the time anyway, they just like to think they don't; Virgos are the real rationalists of the zodiac), it's a good time to begin creative projects (watch those void moons), and remember that whatever begins on or near the New Moon will reach some sort of fruition or at least enlighten us (an "aha" moment) on the Full Moon.
Friday, November 6, 2015
Equine Astrology Tip of the Day for TODAY and SATURDAY, NOV 7: This morning through Saturday (esp morn) the moon is traveling through the beautiful Venus-Mars-Jupiter alignment we've all been getting up before dawn to see (haven't we?!). This can inspire excitability. (The alignment I mean, not the getting up before dawn ...). Good thing to keep in mind while interacting with our horses, and with people too. Might want to avoid especially reactive individuals altogether if possible.
Monday, November 2, 2015
Okay, to get away from the chancy realm of horse racing and back to regular, old daily astrology ... Equine Astrology Tip of the Day for TODAY (Mon, 11-2) and tomorrow (Tuesday 11-3): Moon is in fiery Leo and at last quarter square ... both signify a great time to get rid of parasites and/or extra hair. Deworm our horses if needed. And if we're a male and bearded, remember, anyone who tells you your beard makes you look homeless isn't someone you want to take to your cardboard box anyway.
Saturday, October 31, 2015
As a horse lover I'm not really a fan of horse racing but .... today is the Breeder's Cup and Triple Crown winner American Pharoah is running in the Breeder's Cup Classic. Will he win? Stars say ... no. I can't say who will, but I can say, by my reading, he won't. AP is the "home team" 1st house, ruled by Mars. Restrictive Saturn is IN the 1st house. AP's opponent is the opposite house (7th). While Venus (opponent) and Mars (AP) are both in the 10th house of Victory, Venus is in "Mutual Reception" (a positive relationship) with Mercury, ruler of the 10th (victory). Also the Moon, IN the 7th house (opponent) is in positive relationship with Mercury (ruler of house of Victory). Venus and Mars are in alignment, conjunct ... race is close ... but, opponent takes it. (there are some troublesome stars afflicting this chart and I hope they only mean that the favorite--AP--loses, not that there's injury!).

Equine Astrology Tip of the Day for THURSDAY, Oct 15: Big astrological news of this day is the long void Moon in Scorpio, which begins at 9 pm EDT tonight (Wed) and doesn't leave the void until 5:18 am Friday. Don't sign, buy, or begin important things. See, now we have a great excuse to spend the day with our horses! Hopefully our boss and coworkers understand.
Monday, October 12, 2015
Well, Mercury is no longer retrograde (yay!) but technical glitches and sudden reversals are still on the agenda as today's Libra New Moon challenges Uranus, god of rebellion and pointless bullheadedness (whichever one will cause the most drama in any given situation). Advice is try to keep our mind from running on overdrive the entire day (pick an hour or three to let it do so, then quit), and be willing to be adaptable (or unavailable), so we aren't the bull's head that something or someone else is beating itself against.
Equine Astrology Tip of the Day for TUESDAY, Oct 13: If working with our horses today (Monday, Oct 12) or tomorrow having a variety of activities will go better than trying to focus on one. Be flexible and willing to back off if we encounter resistance. Tack and equipment that excessively restrains will cause trouble. If we hang it next to our bedroom door we can freak our friends out instead of our horse, always the better option.

September Lunar Eclipse
At last! An eclipse that finally looked like an eclipse! Spectacular. And what sky-story did this eclipse-that-looked-like-an-eclipse tell? All eclipses stir issues of bondings and separations, and this eclipse in particular is about what “we” have vs what “I” have; the gains or sacrifices made in the name of personal relationship as well as humanitarian ideals, the needs of the people (or animals, or the environment) vs personal greed or personal gain. This last was demonstrated perfectly by Pope Francis (Sun in Sagittarius, Moon in Aquarius, Cancer Rising) during his historic visit to the U.S. in which he repeated his call that individually and collectively we take stronger action to help others, especially the powerless, be they people, animals, or the environment.
Okay, I hear it now: “But what’s it mean for me?” Just look up your Sun and Ascendant sign below and then you’ll know! (I’m a poet and don’t even know it!)
Libra (Sept 23-Oct 22): Librans are channeling our inner Capricorn at this eclipse in asking “What’s in it for me?” in regards to relationship. Hang on Libra, in one more year jolly Jupiter enters our sign and maybe then we can cash in our chips--or any partners not pulling their weight, whichever’s worth more at the time.
Scorpio (Oct 23-Nov 21): Spirituality vs practicality, that is the question. And just when we thought we were on the same page as God (or Goddess, or dog which is god spelled backwards) suddenly the money gets tight. Filthy lucre wins again! Good thing we don’t mind getting our hands dirty. Kinda like it, in fact.
Sagittarius (Nov 22-Dec 20): Although winning the lottery is not out of the question at/near the time of this eclipse Sadge, bigger news for us is that Saturn has entered our sign, there to stay for the next 2 years. Saturn says, don’t spend all that money just yet ‘cause 2018 is coming. (What’s 2018 got to do with it? Hang around and we’ll find out).
Capricorn (Dec 21-Jan 19): We’re doing a lot of digging at this time Cappy. Searching for our past, gold, an escape, or maybe just a leaky pipe. Stars say that pat on the back we’re always waiting for may finally be coming. We’ll find out what it’s worth too (hint: just try paying for a gallon of milk, soy, almond, or otherwise, with it).
Aquarius (January 20-Feb 17): Saint Francis said, “Preach the gospel at all times. If necessary, use words.” What we say vs what we do is on display at this time Aquarius. Hopefully some kind of stellar alignment between the two is going on. You know, unless we’re a vocal axe-murderer. In which case, hopefully, we’re all talk, no action.
Pisces (Feb 18-March 19): If we hate it when money is the issue Pisces (and we do) then we’re gonna hate it, ‘cause money is the issue. That beats “the real vs the ideal in realms of relationship,” though, right? Because that’s the other issue. At least we won’t be bored.
Aries (March 20-April 19): We’re feeling sloppily emotional Aries. Which is better than feeling sloppily un-emotional. That’d be like being a badly dressed Vulcan or something. Just watch the scene where Spock dies in The Wrath of Khan, have a good cry, and we’ll feel better by morning. What’s that? We haven’t seen Wrath yet? Umm ... we’re feeling all sloppily annoyed at unannounced spoilers then.
Taurus (April 20-May 21): Voltaire said that while doubt is an uncomfortable position, certainty is an absurd one. We have the choice between being uncomfortable or absurd Taurus. Exert control in life areas that we can but if about to sprain something, let go.
Gemini (May 22-April 20): A sacrifice in name of the greater good is called for at this time Gem. This could be anything from signing up for a 6 month stint of helping the poor to keeping our opinions to ourselves for the time being. The latter being impossible, where’s the sign up sheet again?
Cancer (June 21-July 21): We say “Busy as a beaver,” because beavers are the only animal as obsessed with home improvement projects as man. The difference being, beavers don’t have to hit Home Depot to procure materials. Home, family, foundations are all on our mind right now. The board feet we could get out of our neighbor’s trees might be on our mind right now too, but best ignore that one.
Leo (July 22-August 22): Richard Lion-heart is famed as the “good” king of England, vs evil brother King John, who was plagued by Robin Hood. Crazy thing is, after childhood Richard rarely set foot in England, and bankrupted the country restlessly going on crusades to boot. We’re restless these days too Leo. Just take care not to spend all our cash or forget the folks back home.
Virgo (August 23-Sept 22): Our vision collides with another’s Virgo. We don’t mind, unless it involves money. So we’re gonna mind, because it does. If only everyone would allocate resources the way we see fit, we could all get on with our lives and avoid these messy dilemmas.
Monday, September 14, 2015
Equine Astrology Tip of the Day for TUESDAY, September 15: Indecision rules today. English or Western? Trail ride or ring work? Ride the mare or the gelding? No need to stress about all this--we're probably going to get stuck for so long on what to have for breakfast there won't be time to do much else after ...
Wednesday, September 9, 2015
Equine Astrology Tip of the Day for THURSDAY, Sept 10: Stars say high emotions dominate tomorrow riders (esp 1st half of day). We're either going to be up because we're looking good, or down because something about our life doesn't look as good as we'd like it too. Our horses will be fine! They're too wise to give ego free rein, and smart enough to know the value of superficial appearances. We should all be as smart as horses.
Okay, so the big astrological news right now is this weekend's Solar Eclipse in Virgo! You know, Virgos have a reputation of being overly zealous in their attempts to improve the rest of us. Which would be less annoying if they didn't work so darn hard at constantly improving *themselves* (and more often than not, succeeding). This eclipse will be something like Virgo on steriods so either stay away from or embrace the perfectionist in your life. But wait! This Virgo Eclipse is influenced by nebulous Neptune! Which means we'll still be running into Virgoan OCD, but instead of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, this OCD is Obsessive Confusion Disorder. It's like Obsessive Compulsive Disorder but with fewer boundaries.
Thursday, September 3, 2015
Equine Astrology TOD for FRIDAY, Sept 4: Aspects today incline to daydreaming as well as "whole lotta talk, a lot less action," energy. Our advice? Why fight the stars? Let yourself dream about what you and your horse *could* do, but recognize most of it is going to be pie-in-the-sky. Or even better ... saddle up our unicorn instead.
Wednesday, August 26, 2015
Apologies for the absence folks, I've been on a writing jag again. Anyway!--big news of the week is Saturday's (Aug 29) Full Moon. At a Full Moon we feel a conflict between life direction (Sun) and our needs (Moon) ... wants vs needs in essence. We feel this conflict but we usually don't know it. Others also feel the same conflict, but don't know it. It's no wonder over reactions reign when the Full Moon rises. Next life maybe we should just all be reincarnated as werewolves and go with it. This life, remember that we aren't a werewolf and if someone or something is getting on our nerves now through the Full Moon, neither biting them nor running through the woods naked and growling is a productive solution. (i.e., don't over react).
Wednesday, August 12, 2015
Equine Astrology Tip of the Day for THURSDAY, August13: Today is one of the best hair fixing & hair cutting (to stay cut) days of the year. But leave those whiskers alone! There's a breed for people who don't like horses with whiskers--it's called "Breyer."
TM astrology for THIS AFTERNOON/EVENING, Wed, August 12th: In her book _Bright Sided_, a critique of the cult of positive thinking, Barbara Ehrenreich notes that "delusion is always a mistake." Today we run into a lot of deluded people, as well as the generally confused. Don't believe everything you hear, and risk of arguments is enhanced, esp. late. On the up side, when the misguided are busy arguing with each other, they've not time to take action based on their misconceptions. Goethe would be happy ("The most frightening thing in the world is ignorance in action.") On the even upper side, this alignment favors taking action based on imagination; artists, poets, writers, have at it.
Monday, August 10, 2015
Equine Astrology Tip of the Day for TUESDAY, August 11th: Jupiter, planet of seeing the big picture, enters Virgo, sign of pay attention to the details, there to stay for the next year. Overlooking important details in this period will have big consequences so before launching any high flying plans, check to make sure we haven't forgotten anything important.
TM Astrology for TUESDAY, August 11th: Environmental writer Derrick Jensen says that salmon don't need more books written about them. They need clean, fast water and the dams to come down. Today Jupiter, planet of the big idea, enters Virgo, sign of practical application. Jupiter in Virgo says, we need a little less talk and a lot more action. Jupiter will be in Virgo for approx. a year! So, roll up those shirt sleeves and get to work!
Wednesday, August 5, 2015
Equine Astrology TOD for THURSDAY, August 6 (Last Quarter Moon): Something gets our horse's goat (or our own) round about 4 PM EDT (1 PM PDT). So maybe ride early, or late. Or make a sign saying "No Goats," and hang it on the barn door. Just for the day of course, because, you know, goats are cuties!
Monday, August 3, 2015
Astrology Haiku for TUESDAY, August 4th: We can't have our bridge / and burn it too, or is that / supposed to be cake? Planets align in a contradictory pattern that one the one hand inflate dreams and desire--and on the other, bump them up against a brick wall named "reality." Good news is, under such patterns were at no risk of building castles in the air. Gravity will assert itself from the get go.
Equine Astrology TOD for TUESDAY, August 4th: We've got a weird confluence of planets that on one hand inflate dreams or desire, but on the other see them hit a brick wall named "reality." Stars say enjoy the vision but be realistic and don't get discouraged by the setback that will occur. For me this means I'll go out to my barn and discover that no one has snuck in overnight and cleaned the thing. Yet again. -sigh-
Monday, July 27, 2015
Equine Astrology Tip of the Day for MONDAY, July 27: Henry Ford who was a control freak as well as father of the automobile was once asked why he wasn't more responsive to what his customers wanted. His reply: "If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses." We've entered a 6 week period of time that favors holding our horses in terms of desire, because what we *really* want may be just around the corner.
TM astrology for MONDAY, July 27th: We've entered a 6 week phase of "review" in matters of love and money. Old flames pop up, old friendships too. Troubled current bonds may fail the editing process and end up on the cutting room floor. "Surprise" in matters of love or money are likely, especially now (within next day or two). Go check those winter coat pockets because this pattern says lost money wants to be found. And I say, give that poor cash what it wants, and find it!
Wednesday, July 15, 2015
New Moon in Cancer and what a New Moon she is. Mercury (thinking/communication) aligns with Mars (god of war) in classic "fighting words" pattern. This pairing joins with the paired Sun and Moon--and remember, at a "new moon" the Moon rises and sets with the Sun and so is invisible in the sky. Astrology is a visual art ... it a planet is invisible it is "not there." Moon invisible translates as emotional security feeling hard-to-find. Combine missing emotional security with a pattern that fosters "fighting words," and what do we get? Yep. Gonna be a good day to keep our mouths shut. Good luck with that.
Tuesday, July 7, 2015
The thing about being self-employed ... take one week off, come back to two weeks of backed up work. What's up with that?! Okay, TM Astrology Tip of the Day for WEDNESDAY, July 8th "Last quarter Moon in Aries suggests we may be cutting the overly self-involved out of our life (if only temporarily). Favored: Altruistic actions. Disfavored: Narcissists. But don't try to tell them that because they'll think you're talking about you.

July Full Moon
I’ve been reading some things about the Venus-Jupiter conjunction that sound blissful. Almost like advice in the book The Secret, thinking and visualizing our way to love, wealth and eternal bliss! Too bad it’s nonsense. (In fact, research shows that pessimists achieve their goals at a higher rate than do optimists, and the depressed assess their ability to influence outcomes more realistically than do happy people).
Score a point for Eeyore.
I can see the reason for the hype--when the planet of love and money (Venus) aligns with the planet of luck (Jupiter), it’s got to be good, right? What if I told you that Venus is also appetite, and Jupiter is excess? It’s probably been a good few days for junk-food vendors. Venus and Jupiter aren’t the only planets in the sky (astrology--and astronomy, would be so much simpler if they were), and we have to take account of what else is happening.
What else is happening is a big old turbulent Full Moon. See the Sun opposite the Moon (circled in red)? See how the Sun is aligned with Mars (god of war), and the Moon is aligned with Pluto (god of death, i.e. troubled endings?). This is a Moon that says gain and loss are all tied up with passion, love, territoriality, jealousy. (Thank the stars “love” made the cut, or we’d really see some fireworks).
Venus-Jupiter align in the sign of Leo, the Sun rules the sign of Leo, so it all ties together. This is a Full Moon about resources--what’s mine, what’s yours, and who owes what to whom. Fun stuff. Ultimately, it’s a Moon that will “illuminate” our value system. There are people who can afford a fancy sports car, but buy a less expensive model and send the difference to charity. That’s a value system. There are people who silently steam when they see someone using a welfare card in the grocery store--that too, is an indication of a value system. There are people who share and never count the cost, people who keep a tally, and people who think sharing is a plot thought up by left-wing liberal hippies. It’s all value systems, and it’ll “show” under this Full Moon. The Supreme Court just ruled that marriage (love) licenses must be given with equality to any pair of consenting adults who want to marry and that’s a show of this Moon in action.
If this Full Moon impacts our chart (on or near 9 degrees of Cancer-Capricorn or 21 degrees of Leo will do it) a “turbulent ending” may bring us gain; gain may cause a turbulent ending, we’re counting the cost or not counting the cost of gain, loss, and passion. Yes it sounds like a mess but there’s an out: art and creativity are highly favored under this Moon. Get out your crayons and have at it.
Thursday, June 18, 2015
Equine Astrology TOD for FRIDAY, June 19: Aspects today (into Saturday) impel us to want to dress up, show off, make pretty. Moon in Leo is a bad time to buy new duds or anything to "adorn the body" though, so make do with what you have. (And if our horse looks like this one no need anyway; best we can hope to do is ride quietly and not interfere with the beauty already his!)
Wednesday, June 10, 2015
Equine Astrology Tip of the Day for WED and THURSDAY, June 10-11: The Moon is waning (a phase of removal) in the "killing" sign of Aries, and I've yet to order fly predators so guess what I'll be doing shortly? (Don't order your predators under a void moon or you might end up with a bunch of vegans.)
Monday, June 8, 2015
Equine Astrology Tip of the Day for TUESDAY, June 9th: Morning hours are the pick of the day for riding because by afternoon distraction and annoyances set in. Then again, a relaxing ride might be just the thing to help us deal with irritations. If we end up walking home on our own two feet, our horse clearly didn't agree.
Thursday, June 4, 2015
Equine Astrology tip of the Day for FRIDAY, June 5th: Encounters with a dramatic individual tonight (Thursday) may inspire us to change direction tomorrow so don't be a drama queen while riding this evening--or we may find our trusty steed playing-catch-me-if-you-can tomorrow.
Wednesday, June 3, 2015
Equine Astrology Tip of the Day for THURSDAY, June 4th: We're moving into a several-days long period when getting rid of parasites is favored: now through Sunday June 7th, de-worming horses is particularly effective. If the parasite in question is of the human kind, we can try deworming them but better to just tell them to go bother someone else, don't you think?
Tuesday, May 26, 2015
Equine Astrology Tip of the Day for TUESDAY, May 26: We're in a pattern that inclines us to over-apply aids today into early tomorrow riders. Remember that horses can feel a fly alight. Speak softly, and don't carry a stick (or whip, or spurs, heck, just ride bareback. Naked. In the moonlight. Let the neighbors talk--they're gonna want to anyway, with the current chatty pattern in the sky).
Mercury aligns with Mars early tomorrow morning, inclining us to be chatty, argumentative, or distracted (or, the most fun of all, all three in turn!). We can channel this more productively though!--write those letters to the editor or work on our penmanship. Look at J.R.R. Tolkien's handwriting! Good God, with penmanship like this, it's no wonder the man dreamed up Middle Earth! (Envious!)
Thursday, May 7, 2015
Odds of running into a willful or dramatic individual are high today, and territorial behavior can be expected. If we board at a public barn don't borrow anyone's stuff without express written permission unless we enjoy excessive displays of temper, and horse thieves are sure to be hung.
Tuesday, May 5, 2015
Equine Astrology Tip of the Day for WEDNESDAY, May 6: The stars of hump day are the most "productive-producing" of the whole week. With Moon in Sagittarius, sign of the centaur, horses will be particularly sharp. It's no reason to stay out of the barn; the smart rider works with his horse's brain. Two heads are better than one after all! Train your horse by the brain, not the bit
Monday, May 4, 2015
Are you planning to go out and look at the gorgeous Full Moon tonight? I know I’m excited about it. Mainly because it’ll be the first Full Moon this region gets to go “out” and see without having to dress like an arctic explorer to do so.
This Full Moon pits the Sun in Taurus against the Moon in Scorpio. Sun in Taurus seeks comfort and security. Think of the bull Ferdinand smelling flowers in the meadow. Moon in Scorpio wants to be seduced and is willing to take a risk. Think Eve in the garden of Eden. Sun Taurus/Moon Scorpio turns the whole thing into a business arrangement, think prostitution: a.k.a., “What are you willing to pay for it?”--with the “it” being whatever it is that seduces us: free time, more horses, a bigger house and fancier car, hot fudge sundaes, and the real sticky wicket of the bunch, l’amore.
For TAURUS (April 20-May 20) this will most likely play out in the relationship realm, with our desire pitted against someone or something else. Henny Youngman’s quip, “If you think it’s easy to take candy from a baby, you should try it,” comes to mind.
GEMINI (May 21-June 21): Is wondering if hiding for awhile will make the responsibilities go away. It hasn’t made the bills go away and that’s something else to think about Gem.
CANCER (June 21--which just happens to be my favorite day of the year--July 21st): All bets are off for you Cancer; or maybe they’re on. You’re feeling rather ready to roll the dice. It might even work out very well--but if you lose your shirt, don’t look to borrow mine (as it probably needs washing).
LEO (July 22-August 22): The big changes in your life that began about a year ago continue to roll along Leo. They’re likely even speeding up. If the ride’s getting a little scary just remember the words of Olympic equestrian Chris Cox: “There’s no such thing as a runaway. Learn to ride faster!”
VIRGO (August 23-Sept 22): Virgo likes distinctions so here is one for you: there’s a difference between feeling lost or being mis-guided. Stars say it’s a good time to pay attention.
LIBRA (Sept 23-Oct 22): In 1940 American Ethnologist Matthew Stirling, about to be dropped off in a buggy tropical forest asked his native transport driver, “The ticks are not bad here, are they?” “No,” replied the driver cheerfully. “When full, like grapes they fall off and no harm is done. There are millions of them here, however.” Be alert for tick-like behavior Libra. Including our own.
SCORPIO (Oct 23-Nov 21): Our problem is similar to Taurus’s Scorpio, there’s a parent, a baby, candy, and disputed ownership. Unlike Taurus, if someone tries to take something we’ve claimed, we don’t cry. We bite. So pay attention to dental hygiene; at least we can make sure the other guy doesn’t end up with a nasty infection.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov 22-Dec 20): Our problem is similar to Gemini’s, Sadge: in a word, responsibility (and finance). Unlike Gem, we’ll have a harder time hiding from the big R, as it seems to have pitched a tent in our living room. Who knew adjectives could camp out?
CAPRICORN (Dec 21st-Jan 19): In Edward Abbey’s book _The Monkey Wrench Gang_, protagonist Hayduke advises followers, “Always pull up survey stakes. Anywhere you find them. Always.” We feel like we’re being followed by Hayduke’s followers Cappy, because boundaries, personal and otherwise seem to have moved.
AQUARIUS (Jan 20-Feb 17): In his book _Fame_, Tom Payne notes that “Like Peter Pan, Achilles is a hero because he will never grow old. Unlike Peter Pan, this is because he will die in battle.” Even today, crowds demand blood in return for fame (just ask any celebrity). Remember that when we feel like we’ve just gotta have more recognition Aquarius.
PISCES (Feb 18-March 19): We’re feeling twarted in our climb to the top lately Pisces. Well, duh, Pisces is water and water wants to go with the flow, not fight gravity. What the heck, if the earth didn’t suck, we’d all fall off. Gain climbing endurance by going to www.publicstairs.com, a site devoted to the outdoor public stairways of the world.
ARIES (March 20-April 19): We feel like we’ve been getting no where fast lately Aries. It could be worse; we could feel like we’re getting no where slowly. A message about money is coming; make sure we don’t run over the messenger.

So, who will win the Kentucky Derby? You know, I suck at this kind of predictive (although I did predict Zenyatta's only loss ...). So, trying a new method. I have not looked at ANY horse in the Derby, don't know the names of a single one. Looking flat out cold: chart suggests a "lunar" horse, a mother, a female is important, a connection to royalty (jeeze, it sounds like the brand new royal daughter of Kate and William is going to win the Derby ...). Anyone who has looked, does any horse (horse's name) match this description?

Equine Astrology Tip of the Day for FRIDAY, April 24: There's an inconjunct between what we desire and what we need today. One solution would be to engage in activities we neither desire nor need to do. (I didn't say it was a good solution, I just said it was a solution).

Equine Astrology Tip of the Day for TUESDAY, April 14: We experience a conflict between practicality and beauty Tuesday (and Wed). Finding a way to blend the two will be challenging but ideas are out there.

Equine Astrology TOD for FRIDAY, March 27: Stars incline us to want something excessively today riders. If we and our partner both want the same thing, great! If not, don't make it a contest. After all, there's a reason no one puts "I beat my horse today," bumper stickers on their trailer. Myth: Don't Quit or the Horse Wins

Equine Astrology Tip of the Day for TUESDAY, March 10: Productive work, including athletic endeavors are favored today and tomorrow (Tues, March 10) but wrap it up by Tues evening. Wednesday favors sudden separations and the love affair between our tushy and saddle could be part of that.

On WED, Feb 25th the stars inspire us to be horse crazy little girls and boys again, wanting only to be near horses. Truth be told, any large animal will do as the Sun (ego, sight, connection) aligns with Neptune (large animals) but chasing whales will get Sea Shepherd after you and the neighbor's husband is off limits, regardless of size.

Equine Astrology TOD for SATURDAY, Feb 21: Stars are lining up to make it an "oh sh*t," kind of day. Reactivity will be running high. If we sense our horse--or patience--getting shaky, getting off and leading pony or patience by the scary obstacle is advised.

Musing on the recent retirement of two of my favorites, Stephen Colbert and now Jon Stewart from their respective shows it occurs to me ... of course! (Slapping forehead!) Saturn, planet of "Time to Get Serious" recently entered wanna-party Sagittarius. No more fun for you!
Stewart has additional "Saturn cycles" going on. Being a Sadge himself (see chart--inner wheel is Jon Stewart's natal, outer wheel current transits) Saturn in Sagittarius is crossing his Sun. Saturn is "serious commitments or separations." Additionally, his tv career is 22 years old (21 years is Saturn cycle) and he's been with the Daily show for not quite 15 years (14 yr Saturn cycle).

Equine Astrology Tip of the Day for THURSDAY, February 12: Mercury is now moving forward again so events beyond our control will be less likely to have us trotting around in circles. But don't let this stop us if we WANT to trot (or canter or gallop) in circles: https://www.thedodo.com/a-maze-ing-984172936.html

Yesterday my daughter was telling me about a Scorpio friend of hers, and she added, "She's one of those Scorpios who uses her Scorpio energy the good way." Yeah, we all know what she's talking about. Today through Wednesday, February 10th and 11th the Moon is in Scorpio. The question we all need to ask is are we going to channel good Scorp or bad Scorp?
Equine Astrology Tip of the Day for: Tomorrow, WEDNESDAY February 11th Mercury stations direct (yay!) and all the delays and slowdowns we've been hitting will clear soon enough. Which means we can stop stop making clucking noises at people walking slow in front of us. (Come on, you know you've done it ...).
Thursday, February 5, 2015
Tomorrow, FRIDAY January 6th, stars will incline us to want to do too many things at once, try to get too much done. Prevent the risk and spend the day with our horse!--cold out where we live? So what--we live in a four-season state for a reason, right? Natives of Florida don't get to go skijoring, so there!
Wednesday, January 28, 2015
Equine Astrology Tip of the Day for THURSDAY, January 29th: Is our tack room overflowing with stuff we no longer use but have an emotional attachment to? Thursday is a good day to clean house (er, barn). Star patterns favor utility over emotional connection and we'll be able to part with dear old Flicka's bridle (that's kind of falling apart anyway being made of yarn, Flicka being our first Breyer horse we got when we were 6).
Tuesday, January 20, 2015
Equine Astrology Tip of the Day for WEDNESDAY, January 21st: Mercury turns retrograde today! It does so in a configuration that will make for a very chatty day. We should avoid getting into ethical or religious arguments with our best buddy. We should avoid these types of arguments with any human friends as well.
Monday, January 19, 2015
Equine Astrology Tip of the Day for TUESDAY, January 20th: We know that New Moons are considered a good time for beginning new things, but did you know that the actual DAY of the New Moon is typically not so good?--higher risk of taking premature action. This is especially so at Tuesdays New Moon. Plot, plan and prepare, but wait until Wednesday to actually giddy-up and go.

One of the legends concerning the murder of outlaw queen Belle Star is that she was killed by her son after she whipped him for abusing her horse, Venus. At this current Venus-in-the-sky phase, newly visible as evening star, active pursuit of goals is favored but results more likely to be achieved if our goals have a "higher" purpose than physical gain. It's a perfect time to commit to action that helps the mistreated around us, be they four legged or two. We needn't worry about suffering Belle's fate for it unless we make her mistake of hanging out with the criminally inclined.
